A Legacy That Began in Palayur

Our story begins in the year 52 AD, when St. Thomas the Apostle arrived on the Malabar Coast of Kerala. Among his earliest converts at Palayur was the Pakalomattam family, a respected household known for its scholarship and leadership. This moment of faith was the seed from which generations of Christian tradition would grow.

Guardians of the Early Church
The Pakalomattam family quickly became pillars of the early St. Thomas Christian community. For centuries, they served as priests, deacons, and church leaders, guiding their people through times of both peace and challenge. They were entrusted with sacred responsibilities, including the preparation of holy oil and the preservation of ancient liturgical traditions.

Migration and Growth
As centuries passed, waves of migration carried Pakalomattam families from Palayur to Kuravilangad, Ankamali, Niranam, Kaduthuruthy, and beyond. With each move, they established new churches, strengthened communities, and nurtured faith.

The Birth of the Panamthottam Branch
Within this great lineage, the Panamthottam family emerged – rooted in the same apostolic heritage, yet carrying its own unique legacy. The ancestral home of Panamthottam became a center of faith, hospitality, and leadership. Generations of our members served not only the church but also their communities, contributing to education, social service, and the preservation of tradition.

A Living Heritage
Today, Panamthottam descendants live across India and around the world. Whether near or far from our ancestral soil, we remain bound together by faith, history, and the values passed down through nearly two millennia. Our heritage is not just a record of the past – it is a living story, still being written with every new generation.
